re.te is excited to participate in the AESOP Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, where we will address the gap between academic research and professional practice in spatial planning.

While research offers theoretical insights and long-term strategies, practitioners face immediate, context-specific challenges that demand actionable solutions. Systemic barriers, limited research access, differing communication styles, and a lack of knowledge brokers, further widen this divide.

At AESOP, we will present re.te (research for territory) and its “Design by Research” methodology, which integrates scientific rigor with planning strategies, participatory approaches, and spatial design. Our work translates research into practical solutions, including:

Community workshops
Spatial mapping & scenario planning
Policy guidelines for sustainable development

By bridging research and practice, re.te fosters resilient, inclusive, and sustainable cities. We look forward to engaging in this critical conversation at AESOP 2024, stay tuned!
