On April 23, 2026, re.te planning co-founder Abdallah Jreij — Research Fellow at Politecnico di Milano — will deliver an online lecture titled:
“Bidding for and Planning the Winter Games Milan–Cortina 2026: The Plurality of Trajectories and the Contradictions of Challenges.”
The session will examine the Milan–Cortina bid as the largest macro-regional Winter Games ever organized — spanning four Olympic clusters across Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino–Alto Adige/South Tyrol, and multiple Alpine territories. It will reflect on how reforms introduced by the International Olympic Committee under Olympic Agenda 2020, fragmented governance structures, and enduring exceptional planning dynamics continue to reshape the relationship between metropolitan and Alpine regions.
This invitation reflects the growing international interest in the territorial and planning dimensions of mega-events, and aligns with re.te planning’s mission to connect academic research with professional practice across urban, territorial, and sport-related planning projects.
