re.te is excited to announce Francesca’s latest article, “Towards the Regeneration of Mountain Tourism Territories,” which explores innovative strategies for revitalizing fragile mountain regions.
Since the 1960s, tourism-driven development has profoundly shaped mountain territories, leaving behind a complex legacy of environmental, social, and economic challenges, now intensified by climate change and global crises. The article highlights the need for a territorial, integrated, and multidisciplinary approach to regeneration, moving beyond traditional tourism models.
Through the case of Alta Valtellina in the Lombard Alps, the paper presents a methodology to measure, spatialize, and represent the diverse challenges affecting these regions, offering a critical foundation for rethinking their future.
